Policies
Here’s a few basic policies of Warrington Network that are mainly common sense but it is important that we all follow them.
Membership and Participation
Non members:
Individuals interested in joining CAMO Scout Network should be given the chance to experience what Network is about, but be well aware that they are not insured under the Scout Association and are not allowed to participate in activities involving young people (under the age of 18.)
Members:
Members of CAMO Scout Network must:
1. Complete the Cheshire County Network Registration Form and keep details up to date
2. Have valid, up to date CRB clearance for Scouts
3. Pay annual membership fees
4. Abide by all CAMO Scout Network policies.
Uniform
Network is part of the Scout Association, a uniformed movement- Network/Leader uniform consisting of the correct shirt, appropriate neckerchief, blue activity/leader trousers and smart shoes.
Many activities will not require the use of full uniform, but when required the uniform is to be worn smartly and with pride!
Bullying
All Network Members have a responsibility to welcome any person into Network, treat them kindly and prevent bullying in any circumstance within Scouting. This can be achiever either by personal intervention or by reporting incidents to a Network Officer.
Smoking
Members must firstly comply with current smoking laws (i.e. no smoking in public buildings) and the rules of the establishment we’re at- such as campsites for example. Smokers must always pay consideration to those around them and not smoke around non-smokers. Any cigarette stubs should be disposed of in a safe manner and not left on the floor.
At all times members should remember that they are representing both CAMO Scout Network and the Scout Association, and a clean image is very important.
Drugs
Under NO circumstances is the use or dealing of any kind of recreational drug acceptable during Scouting activities, and any compromise on this rule will result in severe disciplinary action.
Medicinal drugs should be declared to a Network Officer to be recorded onto the database for first aid purposes, and this can also prevent any accusations of the misuse of drugs.
Alcohol
Alcohol may be consumed sensibly in accordance with current laws, (on “wet” activities), however if driving network members to or from a Scouting activity, a zero alcohol tolerance should be followed.
Certain activities/camps will be declared as “Dry Activities/Camp,” and this means that alcohol is strictly forbidden for the duration of the activity, regardless of age.
At all times when alcohol is being consumed a sober image should be presented to the public and non-network members shall not see the consumption of alcohol unless in a bar environment.
For example, beer shall not be carried past a group of Scouts on a campsite- if alcohol is permitted on the camp, the beer should be well hidden from view, consumed sensibly and disposed of discretely.
Network members should not get completely intoxicated with alcohol on Scouting activities!
Pulling
Members must remember that on Scouting activities, the adult age is 18. Relationships provoked during Scouting activities (i.e. pulling on camp!) are not permitted with under 18s by an over 18 Network Member.
Relationships with over 18s are allowed however a level of maturity must be implemented and the persons involved must act in a responsible and considerate manner!
